The trouble is that despite the blatant abuse by this cop, the ole thin blue line club will remain silent and stand behind their "buddy" no matter what.

Until the police community starts to vigorously denounce this kind of behavior from one of their own, the police in general will never have the respect and trust of the public.

You guys are only looking at it from one point of view. Before I go any further I agree that after the Police Officer assessed the situation he should have used better judgment. The officer had no idea what was going on until he got the people out of the vehicle. So, I would think he was justified up until the point where he found who he was dealing with and the situation. Also, if the people had just called the paramedics, they would not have been in that situation. There vehicle isn't an emergency vehicle and no more have the right to speed than you or I.

I don't know what's worse, the officer and how he handled the situation, or how his boss seemed to stick up for him. What a joke.

As far as Harry's comments, here is my input...

I got a call a couple weeks ago at work from my sister-in-law saying someone had just shot our house (which contained both my small children). Now, should I have called the police for an escort or was it wrong of me to drive about 100mph with my flashers on all the way home? In hindsight I should have driven the speed limit and gotten there a couple of minutes later. When faced with the situation and a split second decision I didn't think like that, I just reacted to getting to my kids ASAP. Probably what these old folks did, just reacted to getting their friend to medical professionals ASAP. There is no excuse for this officer's actions, period.

Cops like the one in the video are a prime example of a police state mentality. These jack-boot control freaks have been trained/brainwashed that the populace can't think for themselves. Their mindset is that an ounce of prevention requires a pound of police force.

No, you shouldn't have called for an escort. But, you should have called the police which COULD have been there before you. I also said the same thing about the officers actions. That is why I put the disclaimer in the second line of my post and yes you could have been in the same situation hauling ass back home. Wearing bracelets and going to jail while your family was home scared.
