But he was obviously agitated, a little confrontational, was a smartass, and seemed to have a bone to pick. Because of all that, I don't think it was unreasonable for the officer to want to disarm him until he cleared the call. It's no different here in South Carolina. If you are legally carrying a concealed weapon, and have dealings with a police officer, you should fully expect them to take your gun and secure it until they are done with you. The Supreme Court has also given a police officer the right to Terry frisk you, with or without your consent, just to see if you have any weapons on you. Quote:
