I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure he will be back better than ever. It makes me wonder if there was a problem with the truck before he bought it.

Can I get in on that deal, looks like I need a new motor now too. Maybe we can get a group buy. Are you thinking short block or long block?

Bill and Jason, sorry to hear about your motors.

Bill, in what gear and how fast were you going when this happened? There have been many stories on all of the national boards about engine failures at high speed (3rd or 4th gear), and/or running them hard in cold weather. Since it wasn't cold out, I would assume that would be ruled out.

Did you dyno the truck to check air/fuel before running it hard?

Dont know how fast or rpm's since I was not driving, but it was in 3rd or 4th at well over 100mph. I had run it hard a few times my self and all seemed well. Had not had an chance to get it to the dyno. Had a few more things to do (exhaust) and pull the wipple back off to change oil for a flush and then would have checked the tune.

Sorry to hear man but that's why you never beat on a vehicle before you put it on the dyno to check the A/F. I've had "custom" email tunes that when I went to the dyno my car was crazy lean....like 14-15 AFR!!! You never know what could be wrong so it's always best to just eat the $50 to spend on a dyno to be safe instead of 5K for a motor....

5K???????
5 Grand won't even touch it. He'll be in for 10-15k before it's over. That's why I would have to find a new home if mine blew.

If I spend any more money on my vehicles, Larry and I may be living together like the odd couple.
