Lol, I worked at Edwards AFB in the mojave desert for a few years, we lived in Lancaster, then moved to Lake Elsinore which is right outside of Riverside and I was working at Camp Pendleton.

Nice! I read your post about possibly wanting one. If you ever have any questions about going the 4 banger route and just converting it hit me up. Its not as bad as it sounds, and imo you end up with a better overall car in the end. Cost of the car along with the stuff I needed for the conversion, I prolly have less than 1500 in everything. NOT including driveline of course. Thats a whole nother story lol.

A small side note... insurance for me on a v8 gt is double what insurance for me is on my "4" banger car...

Heres a few pictures from when I first got the car, through some of the build and so on...

Day I bought it

Initial mockup, windsor jr heads and an F-cam

Switched to AFR's later and an XFI cam

My daughter changing the valve springs for me....

NA setup in the gt

A-trim setup in the gt

Sleeper mode... with a hood...

Race day

I had the whole setup in the greet gt for awhile before getting the notch, then transfered everything over to the notch drivetrain wise.

The blue gt I got off craigslist for 200 bucks, used it for a donor car on all the other stuff such as the pedals, fuel lines, spindles etc. Ended up selling off all the rest of the stuff for more than 200 bucks so in a round about way I got the stuff I needed for free. I still had to scrounge around for other things such as the speedo cluster, ecu, exhaust hangers, wiring harnesses etc.

Id do it again without thinking twice. Took me and another guy less than 2 weeks to convert it all over once all the parts were on hand. Both working full time jobs. Good times...

Good shit man. I was stationed out at Ft Irwin for quite a bit of my active duty and then Sacramento (where most of the rest of my family lives) when I went into the Reserves.

Lol, the one thing that still drives me nuts about the car is the blue interior, the blue on blue drives me insane. I was hoping it would grow on me, but NOPE sure hasnt.

Ya man that thing was a beast, I took it apart just to see where the knock was coming from, one of the rod bearings was completely gone, ate into the crank, just out of curiousity I went to autozone and bought their largest oversized bearing they had, installed it and there was still about 3/16's play in it.

Are you still in the reserves? I wish I woulda went into the reserves instead of getting completely out so I would still have a foot in the door. But it is what it is I suppose. I have tried a few times to get back in but the Marines arent even talking to prior service, and havnt for years. Now im old, fat and pretty lazy though so its probably for the best that Im in the first civ div

Sure am. Been on orders for most the time I have been down here. Kinda defeats the purpose of going into the reserves but I enjoy it so not really an issue. Ive never understood why the Marines are so anti prior service. Ive known quite a few people that have the same gripe. The Army loves it though... Ha old, fat, lazy..... Pretty sure the Army has a waiver for all three!

Car is nice. Good job on the build! Get some suspension and you'll be in the 10's.
