Console of the "new" boat was bad off in the dash area. Had a total of 6 gauges (tach/speed/fuel/water pressure/BAT/hours) that were not functional other than the tach, as well as some holes from previous installations.

I decided I only want to run a tach and fuel gauge, and wanted to flush mount a 5" GPS in the spot where the gauges resided.

I purchased a Standard Horizon CPF180i Chartplotter/fish finder combo unit and Airmar P66 transducer new in box from a local for a STEAL. Also bought an Edson stainless wheel with suicide knob.

Got started gutting the dash, removed about 15 pounds of wiring and gauges that weren't used.

Picture shows the first cut to the gauge hole to fit the GPS, it was cleaned up and squared off after this pic was taken. Insides of all cutouts on the dash panel were sealed with epoxy to keep water ingress and delamination at bay.

1/2" thick piece of HDPE black plastic was cut and routed to fit the dash piece. Holes drilled and cut, mounted helm and plotter and secured panel with Stainless screws.

Phase 1 of dash cleanup is complete. Next will be topside piece, which will house fuel gauge, tach, and a 4" round gauge style radio next to the compass.

I went to Monterey last week for the end of car week. I covered Porsche WERKS reunion, Legends of The Autobahn and Rolex Monterey Historics at Leguna Seca.

I also got to snap some shots of Koenigsegg One:1 No.6 of 6 with Christian Von Koenigsegg on track at Leguna Seca just before the corkscrew.

I'll share the rest once i've gone thru them and Michelin clears them.

it sounded like a turbo 5.0L mustang with mufflers lol. they didnt get on it or anything, it barely had enough fuel in it to make it around the track honestly. it was cutting off when they tried to back it up at the top of the cork screw. supposedly they werent allowed to complete a full lap at SPA with it because it blasted their 110db noise regulations or something. laguna is 95db during the day. I'm pretty sure its considered quiet time at night.

put a viper spec t6060 behind a 1.8L miata motor and do the same thing and you'll eventually tear it up too.
