Id like to roll coals on his ecoshitbox. My truck already has a tuner so im ok. If they outlaw them ill move the monitor off the dash.

Checked a few of the part numbers and the ones listed are for dpf equipped trucks. Fords 6.4 and chevys 6.6. It was only a matter of time before the epa did something.

That being said if you want a tuner for your 08 or newer better get it from spartan or h&s before they stop selling them to!

GM also locked out the 2011 duramax. In order to tune a vehicle legally you have to be able to down load the tune from the OBDII port then change and flash it back in. Well for years all the after market tuning software were able to crack the code to unlock the factory pcm to tune them. Well GM out smarted them on 2011 duramax and just locked the PCM where you can't download the tune from the ODBII port. EFI Live who is probably the biggest duramax tuning software has already pretty much given up on the 2011 duramax.

Unbelievable... Actually totally believable considering who is running the country. I would imagine this will ultimately result in less money being made by multiple companies, resulting in the possibility of layoffs, all because of an unproven theory that has holes the size of Jupiter.

All this from the party that supposedly cares about jobs.

I don't agree with this policy.

From the head of NASA
I have no doubt that ... a trend of global warming exists. I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with. To assume that it is a problem is to assume that the state of Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change. First of all, I don't think it's within the power of human beings to assure that the climate does not change, as millions of years of history have shown. And second of all, I guess I would ask which human beings — where and when — are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that's a rather arrogant position for people to take

Wasn't it Nixon, a republican, who started the EPA? ...and you had 8 years of Regan, 4 years of Bush, and 8 years of Jr to do something about it. When Sr was president, I was told I had to put my damn air pump and catalytic converters back on my car to pass an inspection. Joe you were probably right there supporting the inspections, turning people in for removing their cats.

It doesn't matter who started it, it matters who is implementing and abusing it now. I think we can all agree that the EPA has gotten out of control. I'm all for conservation and protecting our natural resources and wildlife, but when it starts to infringe on our basic rights is when I have a huge problem.

You would say the opposite if it fit your agenda. Everyone knows the dems are environmental wackos, problem is that so are a lot of republicans.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005, Diesel Emissions Reduction Act Program.
Appropriations of up to 200 million a year. Who was running the show then?

Let me know when you find it in the Constitution that says we have the right of free market capitalism?

The Constitution gives the Federal government no authority to insert itself in the economy, other than to print money and the Commerce Clause, which was only intended to eliminate unfair competition among states. Everything else is left up to the market, thereby implying a free market.

The federal government has no business telling us what we can and can't buy. If anything it should be left up to the states, which goes back to the 10th amendment, which is in the Constitution by the way.

If it's not implicitly stated in the Constitution then "right" is the correct word to use.

A lot of government getting in the middle of the common man's business has been a direct result of people asking the government to step in and do something about whatever is offending them. The environMENTAList wackos are to blame for politicians giving the EPA the powers it has today.

In reality, the treehuggers are actually a minority of the population. Unfortunately, because most of them don't have their time occupied by being productive working citizens, they spend every waking hour preaching about their cause and being a rather loud voice politicians' ears.

Asking the government to step in and solve one's problems only creates more problems. Once the government declares authority over an industry or a section of the marketplace, prices of the products either go way up to pay for the extra regulation to get the product to market, or the product is demonized and banned outright.

You may ask how things have gotten to the state they are in now. One big answer to that is because of the general public all herding behind the political candidates that the mainstream media has been pushing on them. Whether it is a Republican or Democrat candidate, if you look at the prior voting records of them all, there isn't much difference between them. The only real chance to get government to shrink is to start voting outside the mainstream media box. Government has not shrunk at all so far in my lifetime, no matter which party has gotten elected.

As long as people keep justifying their vote by "Well, it's the lesser of two evils", we will continue down the road of bigger, more intrusive government.

Voting for the lesser of two evils is akin to a death row inmate given a so called "choice" as to how he/she wants to check out. "You want the electric chair, or lethal injection?" Sure, the lethal injection is an easier way to go, but eventually the outcome is the exact same.

If you are pissed off enough about the EPA and its abusive powers, how about cast a vote this time around for a politician that says they will do their damnedest to abolish the EPA. Just don't get fooled into voting for one of the flip-floppers that claim they will get rid of the EPA when their voting record clearly shows that they are actually for it.

They did have vehicle inspections in SC. I don't remember what year they did away with it.

They never had a sniffer, but would visually check for smog equipment. Most local garages were doing the inspections, and as a 16 year old with no connections I failed my 1st inspection.

Here in TX we have inspections and they will fail any diesel with straight exhaust. They also check for emission equipment.

Although there aren't inspections there is a law pertaining to mufflers. I don't know anyone that actively enforces muffler laws... well, I did get a ticket by Chas County when I was 16 for a cut out, but that is rare. Just remember it's a law, so it is a tool for a law enforcement officer to pull you over and/or cite you for it.

See the legal jargon below:

Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and annoying smoke and no person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a motor vehicle upon a highway. The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes and smoke.
