it was an automatic with like 163k on it. ran awesome and i fell in love with it at first sight. started putting some parts on it and learned alot. when i started i didn't know how to do anything. nothing. the first actual mechanical thing i did was lower it. it was the best feeling ever. since then its pretty much consumed me. after a while the auto died so i changed over to a manual. here it was at its peak, September 2009

old wheel studs
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude4Q.jpg
get four and cut the tips off like this
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude4R.jpg
place them into the holes and turn. they dont thread in much but it should be enough to hold them with some loctite or w/e
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude4S.jpg
where the rubber line was i plugged the holes with some silicone
well my lug nuts finally came in today
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude4T.jpg

http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude4U.jpg
well. the car has touched the ground for the first time in over a year
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude5A.jpg
i didnt take the time to mess with the suspension much. just set it down. the front need work clearly lol, plus no weight on them
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude5B.jpg
for me personally, i think i nailed it
http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/nordic97mist/Prelude5C.jpg
one thing is the driver side rear tire seems to be losing air. im guessing its the old seals on the valve stems. gotta get that fixed before the car goes off for paint
nordic97mist
03-09-2011, 12:51 AM

I give you about two weeks of driving before you crack, bend, or curb a rim. Those tires need to be 20-30mm wider. Shit looks retarded. Did you do that on purpose?

My wife had a prelude when I met her. I think I know why your losing air from your tires but Im no tire expert.

That's the "stretched" look. Frankly, I need about 20mm more on FUPA. I put the stock 255s on 10" wheels and it is a bit stretched for my taste. Waiting on the new Pilot Supersports to come out next month to go a bit wider.
OP, keep up the good work. Pos rep.

the tire was losing air b/c of a bad seal on the valve stem. its since been fixed. not everyone likes the stretched tire thing but i like it if done modestly. now a days the stretch i have is moderate lol. i plan to pick up another set of wheels probably about 8" to use for some autox now and again. thanks for the welcome!
welcome. we need just a little more info about your car. i don't think you posted enough about it.:poke:

Welcome to the site......Looks like you got a good handle on the build and what you want to get accomplished. It's really rewarding to see your ride finished (but they never really get finished do they) and to know that you put your own blood sweat and tears into it. Don't pay attention to, or let all the negitive comments get to you, as there are many individuals on this forum that seem to take joy from putting down their fellow automotive enthusiast. It should not matter that you are building a Honda or a Corvette. You have talked no shit to anyone here, you just posted some good pics on your build and here we have people talking trash about Ricer, your Tatoo, your Rims, calling you a Queer, your Driving ability, something about a Turd. Guess I'm just getting too sensitive and get tired of hearing all the negativity that I hear on here. True sometimes it's funny, but at another's expense. If the person is talking much shit then they may have it coming, but this guy's first post gets hammered. I know that if I don't like to hear these things then I know where the door is at and may hit the door if I feel it's necessary. I'm sure some of you will probably talk shit about me after this is posted, that's fine as I'm a big guy and can handle myself both physically and mentally........................way to welcome the new guy (to whom it applies).

Fogrive me for asking, but I am not familiar with the import scene; but why would you want to remove the balance shaft from your engine? I would think that would create engine vibration and harmonics issues.
less rotating mass and a bump in oil pressure. its not there for balance of the engine but more so a "comfort" thing put in by honda. without it some ppl say the engine vibrates a little more but nothing that noticeable. i have engine mounts/traction bar coming in so that should help some. it seems like a lot of ppl just take their belt off but when they do that oil stops flowing through some ports and you can lose some oil pressure and thats not too good. the kit has plugs to plug those ports and bumps oil pressure back into a safe range

there's still some things i gotta buy and work on. right now the top thing for me is getting the engine bay painted again. matt said he'd talk to the guy who did his car a while back and let me know. im also waiting on a crank pulley removal tool so i can try to get the bolt off, hopefully while strapped down to the pallet. gonna go ahead replace all the seals on the engine, timing belt, water pump, etc. gotta re-do the brake lines and get an engine harness made up from a company called rywire. ecu. quiet a bit of smaller things. right now im hoping sept/oct to turn the key and get it running. if i can get another raise at work that would help some. at the pay i get i've got to work about 50hrs a wk to keep up the pace

Going to looks sweet when you're all done man! Are you doing a wire tuck too since you've already done a lot in shaving the bay? So many people hate on the look you're going for, but it's going to be awesome. Tires don't have too much stretch, and you're not THAT aggressive in the fitment either, should be fine to drive around.

im not familiar with ecu's and stuff like that and the tuning. im gonna take the car to AV once its done to get it tuned and w/e they go with. the ecu can be tuned with pretty much any system according to phearable. im hoping the car will be done mid/end of aug. pending problems could be longer lol

I'd like to hear the explanation behind this, I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

A lot of work was done that was specifically told not to be done, and charged ridiculously for. Turned into a giant fight and paying the bill just to get the car back.
Don't get me wrong, he does good work, but his business skills and people skills leave a lot to be desired. He's right all the time and no matter who you are or what you know, you never know what you really want to do to YOUR car.
Last post came off a little too wrong. I had a bad experience, doesn't mean you will.

dont let one persons experience with AV make you change your mind.
i know i'm a nobody, but i've been at the hondas for over 12yrs, and if you look up my screen name on pretty much any honda site you'll see that i've been around. i'd put my name on the line for Anthony.... but dont take my word for it, go have a chat with him yourself and draw your own conclusion.
i can tell you he is a Hondata dealer, and you're looking at around $500 for a tune from him, and honestly, you're running a bolt on H22, nothing that really needs a $500 tune, but if piece of mind is worth it to you then by all means, like i said have a chat with HIM, then make a decision.
if it were me i'd just run a stock H22 ecu (p13) and be done with it, would save you a ton of money, a full blown dyno tune might net you 10whp with the little mods you have done.
nordic97mist
06-02-2011, 11:06 PM
oh yeah im still gonna go there once im ready. ive heard he's good and to me the peace of mind is worth the money. 500$ would be the top i'd pay for a tune
PapaBear
06-03-2011, 10:01 AM
Like I said, he is good at what he does. And my experience shouldn't hold you back from seeing him. Maybe the CC company taking my money back from him straightened him up and made him realize you can't do work on people's cars that they told you not to do, and still get paid for them.

Oh I know trust me, as far as I'm concerned something like an exhaust doesn't vary a whole lot from manufacturer. I was just pointing out that he's been buying very high quality name brand stuff, so I figured he would go with HKS or Tanabe or something like that.
And 1 1/2 inches of clearance for the oil pan? I hope you don't plan on driving that...ever.

testing the power right now. headlights and dash all work. but when i turn the key i dont hear the fuel pump priming. there's no gas in the tank if that would cause that. any suggestions how to check stuff?

Ive found alot of times the cheap ones work better than higher priced ones. Not always the case but sometimes exhaust isnt always you get what you pay for.

I agree. Megan O2 housings on the evos compete with anything on the market at 50% of the cost. Even the bigger evo shops gave up trying to compete with it and now just sell ported-out, or ceramic coated Megans.
You have a very impressive build. I think it was posted earlier, but damn...that engine bay is only going to look that good for a couple of months after you start driving it. Maybe you can keep the miles down and keep it clean, but a guy like me can't. I have to drive the shit out of what I work on (just like a read/creased all of my favorite comic books).
Hopefully you keep it a garage/show queen and not a DD, because that would be a waste of all of your effort.
Again, very nice build and I hope that, in the end, it is everything you wanted it to be. It's no LS1 (gods cack, apparently), but it's alright with me.:bigthumb:

yeahh i agree for the most part. this header is pretty much just an oem header but better looking. the part about being flamed for it was b/c of the honda forums. we all know how they can be lol.
the car will prolly be my DD. i really only drive to and from work though. most it'll see at one time is going to bigger meets like import alliance in GA and TN. im gonna try to keep it clean and what not lol
engine bay is done as far as visible things

I would print out all your pics and place them in a book. This is a very impressive build you have. When people look at it in the shows you can show them the book to prove its "built not bought" and it's built right. no hack job like some you see at the import shows. congrats!

alright. im still shaking as i type this lol. got the idle fixed. the egr block off plate was loose then turned the fitv down and it idles right at 800rpm. drove the car around my cul-de-sac and noticed i had to almost lift my foot completely off the clutch for it to move. adjusted it and it seems nice, right about the middle. when i first went in the driveway i ripped the front lip off a tad and scrapped the hell out of the traction bar lol. backed up and got it up with only the exhaust scraping. suspension feels a little weird so im gonna look at all that stuff. i've never been so nervous in my life lol....im stilly shaky
