401k's are typically a joke because most businesses to save money, they are unmanaged, and most employees either dont know what they are looking at or they dont have the time to look at it daily to keep from loosing their ass. Edward jones guy in summerville got one of the ladies at church.for $4k. i shy away.from them now.
Never was really clear how he did it, but she was mad for two years

I use an independt guy, he advises me, but money is not with his company. I sign a Poa if he needs move stuff

Met life has a 20 year 5% guatanteed plan. I am in that, finish it up right around retirement age

Did you withdraw money from your 401k? If not you didn't lose anything. How is it Obama's fault that you are picking stocks/funds that are losing? Take some ownership, and quit blaming other people for your problems.

I have an IRA and a 509 for my kids college. Neither of which I am counting on for my future or theirs- at one time they were great tax benefits.

I'm going back old school. Savings account, real estate, gold, silver and work until I am dead.
