401k's are typically a joke because most businesses to save money, they are unmanaged, and most employees either dont know what they are looking at or they dont have the time to look at it daily to keep from loosing their ass. I use Don at Edward Jones in North Charleston, And if he doesnt make me money he doesnt get paid..

Edward jones guy in summerville got one of the ladies at church.for $4k. i shy away.from them now.
Never was really clear how he did it, but she was mad for two years

I use an independt guy, he advises me, but money is not with his company. I sign a Poa if he needs move stuff

Met life has a 20 year 5% guatanteed plan. I am in that, finish it up right around retirement age

Did you withdraw money from your 401k? If not you didn't lose anything. How is it Obama's fault that you are picking stocks/funds that are losing? Take some ownership, and quit blaming other people for your problems.

Do you realize the Dow is up since Obama took office.

Do you realize he is talking about the VALUE of his 401k? Do you realize that the DOW about the only thing that is up since Obama took office? Do you realize every time he speaks the DOW goes down?

no, i don't keep up with that stuff, my guy does.
my stock pick ever was the "Janus Twenty"
(i will save you the GOOGLE, it don't exist anymore)

i called him & asked, and he said that was my last quarter report, and the last few weeks, it had regained it all back except like a grand or so, so we should be good.

I have an IRA and a 509 for my kids college. Neither of which I am counting on for my future or theirs- at one time they were great tax benefits.

I'm going back old school. Savings account, real estate, gold, silver and work until I am dead.
