This is how I spent my Tuesday morning. I got a half off deal to do the Rusty Wallace Experience and had to jump all over this.
All in all I really enjoyed it. I felt as if the cars needed more hp, although they were running "500hp". They used 504 crate motors that had been previously raced in dirt cars. There was enough power there to get you around the track at "150mph", but left me begging for more. I think with a good set of tires i could have never let off. But it was fast enough to scare the crap out of someone with no experience. The cars themselves had a little weathering on them as well. A few were ARCA, Busch, and nascar cars. If you know anything about the sport, chassis' usually get passed down the line for smaller support series. So there was a little history with these cars. I also didnt feel like my car was really set up for Charlotte. Looked to have a short track set-up on the car with a high ride height in the front in preparation of planting the front end on corner entry. The tires were fairly worn as well. We were the first class of the day, so the tires were cold and the sun had yet to hit turns 1 and 2. Turn 1 finally dried up and they let us head out. They said to use your own discretion in turn 2 bc there may still be a little dew on the track and there was no heat in the surface. A few pictures: ![]() ![]() Talking with a guy from Florida who had done the RWE 15 times now. He was doing something like 80 laps that day. ![]() Notice the ride height on the car. ![]() Making D. Allison proud ![]() ![]() Video is a little repetitive, but I was never passed. Not even by the ride along guys with their drivers in them. You will see a blue 24 car exit pit road on the back stretch on the first lap up to speed. There is also cones in the corner entry which they suggest you let off and brake and mid corner to pick the gas back up. I didnt pay those no attention and didnt touch the brake. Nice, looked like you knew what you were doing.
I did the Myrtle Beach Driving Experience last year for 5 laps. It was over way to quick plus it was in July. Would love to do some laps a Charlotte.
