Tried that last year. Made it to the interview and never got called back. Only 25 people out of the 1 million that applied interviewed for 5 jobs. I think the brutal Rube Goldberg pump and valve exercise might have done me in.

IIRC the pay starts at a little over $20hr

The Rube Goldberg vessel valve and pump exercise is not that bad. I was one of their test run people and passed it without any trouble. So did the admin assistants that were there.

It's not a bad job for the money they pay. Remember its shift work so there is shift differential and overtime. so if its $20/hr that's 41600 per year base pay. add in shift differential and o/t your salary isn't bad. I can find out the shift schedule if people want to know a little more information.

I work out there at this plant and have been for the past 5 yrs. It's a great place to work.

LOL, you design that shit.

For someone that has never done it before, it is difficult. I was on a team for the exercise, it wasn't just me. Who knows, maybe we were all retarded.

I'm sure its a great place to work and I would have loved to get the job.

From what little I have seen in there, they are safety nazis. I have heard of someone getting written up for just walking with one foot outside of a designated walkway for a few steps in order to get around a dragass worker that was holding him up. Definitely not a place for go-getters from what I have seen.

I even interviewed with them a few years back and they actually offered me a job. I said no thanks after seeing a couple of their safety videos. I'd rather not get fired for working in what I know to be a safe manner but not safe enough for the lowest common denominator of intelligence they employ there.

Try dupont. OSHA gets their rules from dupont.

You get used to it,
its industry standard now, a construuction company can come in a million under budget and if the company that was a million over has a better saftey record, they'll get the contract.

I've heard of people getting fired for unsafe practices before but that was years ago when the safety dept was under different leadership . that is however a rarity now. I've worked in many industrial chemical plants and oil refineries in the past 37 yrs and have seen many different safety programs. BP might be strict but its to protect you. We have a look out for the other guy safety approach. there is a system in place that if you see someone about to or are currently doing something that might not end well, we can stop them with out a write up or the employee getting in trouble. I've been dealing with this site since 2003 and have personally not seen or heard of anyone getting fired for not walking in the box. If that was an issue, I wouldn't be still employed. Those little walking paths are not always located where I need to go.

I do not know what good it would do to use my name. I'm a resident contractor, although they do know me, I'm not a BP employee. So when filling out the online form do not place my name under BP employee reference. it might spark the deer int he headlights look from HR..

This job is for a different position. We are looking for a chief inspector for the equipment and piping systems in that add. Pressure vessel and boiler code experience is required too.

The process technician position is the unit operators. This is where the 12 hr shifts come into play.
