Default AR-10?

Anyone on here have any experience with an AR-10? I'm looking at the PSA lower assembly and upper assembly with the 20" barrel, can get both for under $700, but I've also read mixed reviews on the PSA. DPMS makes one with a 24" barrel that seems to be pretty good but it's $1200. Pretty much everything else is $2k and up. Any opinions?

I bought a PSA stripped lower to build using their kit but haven't had a chance to do it yet. Fit / finish look good enough. I'd not expect it to be a super precision rifle but if your just looking at a semi auto .308 I'd say it's good enough. My plan was to build a long distance gun originally but then I figured out the barrel I wanted was $959 by itself so I scraped that idea

I had the misfortune of working with PSA on the new parts. I went through a lot of lowers until one finally worked, and got one of the first 18" uppers. NOW, the PSA parts are good to go. Mine has been a joy to shoot, but I would caution you to re-think your 20" desires. 18" is HEAVY, 20" will be heavier.

In my opinion, for what most people will do with the gun, the PSA is fine. It punches holes in paper, with good accuracy, at a GREAT price point. Don't hesitate.

Here's my behemoth with the brake...

And with the can (on the right)....

Good info, thanks guys! Weight isn't really a factor for me. I enjoy distance shooting, and would like to be able to pluck a deer or hog from a few hundred yards out, I may go with the PSA if they've worked out their issues. I know it's different from the AR-15 world because almost everything is proprietary.

Just remember, if you use a PSA lower, use their LPK too. The takedown pins are different than standard.

Also, I didn't think weight was a factor either, until I had to hump this beast about 300 yards into the woods..........
