My 90 build. ... and the story...

Just wanted to start a new post with my build and all that has been going on. I'll start from the beginning. Sorry I don't have a great deal of "In progress" documentation pics but here is where we are as of now.

The car was a complete hack job when I got it. I started with this:


The car had been hacked up, the Carb install was a JOKE at best so I traded the carb set up parts for a EFI setup. I thought this would be the end of the electrical issues but I was wrong. After I traded around and got my EFI parts this is what I ended up with.


Don't hate on my yellow wires. Those were temporary.

Ran much better in EFI form but needed paint. Went from this:

So I thought I was good. Few small things to finish up but overall.. a ready car. Then I moved halfway across the country and didnt have a place to bring the car at the new house. So I left the car at a buddies house in TN. We have another friend who had a twin kit for sale so I figured while it was there at his place he could just put the kit on for me and we'd be set..

Kit consisted of a DIY using twin Buick Grand National Garrett Turbos, FMIC, stock Gen 1 DSM BOV. Kinda a hodge podge of parts really but for what I bought it for.. a fair deal.

Bought a TwEECer R/T, and bunch of other supporting pars I needed and he got everything installed for me but MORE electrical demons surfaced..so we said WHOA. I'll buy a harness and go from there.

Thats kinda where we are at today. I picked the car up from my buddy's place yesterday and got it home this morning. Turbo kit is installed, ready to be tuned but because of the electrical issues.. im dead in the water until I swap the chassis harness.

Got the car unloaded and in the garage and started tearing the interior out so I can replace the entire chassis harness.






And here is where I stand with the interior at the moment. Got it torn out except for the dash.I have got to meet up with the Fastlane Motorsports guys and get the harness soon. I purchased it via the internet while I was away for the holidays so now I just need to get it and start swapping. I wanted to leave the dash in the car until I get the new harness sitting there ready to go in. This is NOT going to be a fun job.

Car will also be getting new carpet and MAYBE some new seats when it goes back together. I may sell the Custom upholstered stock seats and get some Kirkey drag seats or something and fix me up a rear seat delete. Haven't decided yet.



Have got A LOT of work left to do but thats where I am so far.

do you plan on taking the car to the track? may be a good time to add some bars. i would think that will go under 7.50s pretty easy

couple years ago, i had a wiring meltdown, bought a GM wiring harness and addapted it to my original switches and guages. had to use a black and white 1972 mopar wiring schematic and the one supplied with the wiring kit. 2 hours a night for a month, had a migrane headache every night. good luck. if yours is a direct plug in, it should be much easier.

Yeah the car will go to the track but it may not make it this year. I have got to get this wiring sorted out and build a new rear and get some suspension pieces before I make any track passes. I bought a complete harness from Fastlane. They were parting a 90 LX out and have the entire stock harness so hopefully it should go pretty smooth on the swap.

I "think" this thing would go low 7's if not some 6's pretty easy IF and I mean a BIG "IF" I can shift it. Combo would make well above 500 if I didnt have to turn it down so much to save the stock block. Lots of other TT 347's going a lot faster than mine.

well now is the time for some bars then. roll bar is all thats needed down to 10.00 1/4. after that all hell breaks loose with the safety stuff. unless you just plan going to small outlaw tracks that dont care but a few bars really help the chassis also.

a guy across the street from me rewired his whole stang right before i did mine. he bought all new stuff, cost him lots of money. 10 x's what mine cost

Problem with doing the cage now is I dont have a welder here and this apartment garage isnt wired for 220v so borrowing one is outta the question. I've done cages before with the interior in so I'll just do that again with this one I guess.
