Another timeslip issue at Dorchester? No way!

Sweet 60' man! That had to feel good. I want that 1.4 pretty bad also. Best I've been is 1.50. Maybe with the new tires I can't afford yet......
Wow another negative post from Jay about Dorchester . I guess it doesn't matter to you that it was the only snafu all night .

Yeah I was impressed. The track prep was great, cars were steady flowing, no wrecks. The only things I didnt like about it was the amount of people there ( my god that place gets busy) and all the people in the staging lanes.

I am pretty confident that wasn't my 6 second pass. I am pretty sure the smoke show I put up had something to do with me not getting a slip. I have heard of the same thing happening at other tracks.

I know some of you guys don't like Dorchester, but I really enjoy my time out there. The track prep is 10 times better than Low Country. Jay if you want a 1.4 without going to Jackson or Darlington, Dorchester is great.

I'll even make you a bet. 30 dollars says that if you go to Dorchester that you will run mid 1.40 60's. That should be enough to cover you entrance fee and gas.

I know on the last pass Mike made , he spun like hell you could hear it from the finish line where I was standing . So I'm with him and don't think it was a 6 . And you won't get Jay out there Mike . Ever since someones car they know burned to the ground on the exit road outside the gate from him running an open header next to a fuel line some won't go out there .

At least come close to getting your damn facts straight.

Any idea who leaked the info about the fuel line leaking? I believe that was me along with saying he was a fucking idiot for driving the car like that. Sean and I both told him to fix that shit when we put in his converter.. He didn't. He's dumb. I'm glad he wasn't killed but he brought that on himself. That has nothing to do with me hating that shit hole. I was done going before that.

I guess I can tell the story again for those that missed it.

My first time ever out there. My timeslips varied 4mph between right and left lanes. Same ET and 60'.....it wasn't the car. Apparently this was a known problem by other racers that I talked to. This may or may not be fixed....I don't care. 2 other passes I didn't get a slip at all. I decide to try the bracket race that same night. They charged $15 extra to run. I won the first round and got in line for the next. At this point I think every bike in Charleston was allowed to run.....while we're waiting to run again in the bracket race. After 1 1/2 hours we still hadn't ran again and it was 10:30PM. Who knows if they ever did finish? I said fuck and left.

Second time out.....we had about 8 cars with us. We get to the gate after starting time and don't hear any cars running. I figure someone wrecked or something and they were cleaning the track. Nope......the timing lights weren't working. Had they told me at the gate I wouldn't have paid to get in. What's the use? No car made a pass that night and there were no refunds. Only a rain check that was no good since I didn't normally have Sunday off (and still don't). And got all kinds of attitude when I asked for a refund (nicely at first). The point is....no cars were going to run that night. That didn't stop them from taking money....or even saying something at the gate.

Third time out I was talked into going as a spectator. Trav was up at the DRY burnout box and was doing his best to fry a stock 10 bolt getting the tires to turn over. I asked the guy if he could put down a little water. He refused to put down water. Come on now....how fucking much does water cost? I even offered to go and buy a bottled water to use. What kind of strip refuses to put down water.....in the fucking water box?

This wasn't like 3 out of 100 times out there. This was the first and last 3 times going there. Maybe after different ownership I may check it out.

I know you're buddies with them and that's cool. But just to let you know.....your buddies don't know dick about running a strip. Have fun out there.

Really? That was the only person that night to have a timeslip problem? And we were just lucky enough to have it be one of our guys so I could talk shit? Man...I live a lucky life.

It would be nice, but not really that big of a deal.

I understand your frustration, but no track is perfect.

Maybe you can pretend that Dorchester is not a track, and you are paying your 15 dollars to legally street race. You don't have to worry about tickets, water in the box, lights, nothing. But if somehow they have all that stuff working; that will be an added bonus

SNAFU is an acronym meaning 'things are in a mess ÔÇô as usual'. The most commonly accepted rendering is Situation Normal: All Fucked Up, or, in polite use, ...

You are 100% right. It's just the worst one (by far) I've ever been to. The track, the assholes working it, etc. I've only been to 8 or 9 strips so I'm sure there are worse out there.

That is part of the problem too. The tickets get wacky so.....how do I know if that was my best time? I saw Sean run a 6.30 out there according to his slip. His best before that was 6.8. Hmmm.....

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, but that's just not right.

I have had Mike (He normally helps out at the gate) over my house, and I have helped him with a few things on his car. Those guys, and I mean all of them, are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Maybe they don't run the track to your liking, but they are making money: and have been doing so for a long time. They must be doing something right.

As far as the MPH problem, I haven't had any problem since late 2005. I'm not sure if they made changes or what, but it's been perfect since then.

I can't believe those 3 small incidents you described have caused you to have so much animosity towards Dorchester. C'mon Jay just get over it people make mistakes. When they start to open on Fridays you should ride out there with me one time. I have a blast every time I go there.

It was 60ish Degree's he left great and the truch was hauling down the track. I Think Mike Smoked them out LOL I don't think they did it on intentioally I don't think they could See ( Hell we Couln't See Him!! ) Looked Cool though. Can't wait to be there again hope more people come we had a nice area with the big Oak tree and good company Even though Mike Whipped the crap out of me but there is alway's tommorrow LOL See Ya Lurch.

Jay I'm glad you mentioned Trav's burnout that so greatly pissed you off to the point where you vowed to never go there again . Remember I was there standing at the starting line with both of you . As I recall Travis would barely get his tires wet then pull 10ft in front of the burnout box and try to do a burnout . It was 300 friggin degrees outside on a sticky track with very little water on the tires , hmm last time I checked most cars making 500+hp would have trouble turning them over . But Travis would not back all the way into what little water was there and turn them over !

I know your past problems with the track leave a bitter taste . But shit gets fixed eventually even at our ghetto track . In the past 2 years there has only been one night of problems and instead of people bitching and whinning about timing lights and mph difference , the races went on with a flagger on the line ! So what there is no 330 light is not important honestly ! Do you bitch at 1/4 mile tracks that don't give you a 1000ft time as well ? Either way give it another shot , you can run as fast as you want without worry of the boot like lowcountry use to . All of the things you mention you didn't like about it are now fixed .

And JR quit TRYING to be a smartass with your LACK of knowledge of the ENGLISH language . I even TYPED this with RANDOM words IN capital letters JUST for you since IT seems to mean SOMETHING .

I don't know the names of the guys. They were dicks to me. Maybe they aren't always like that. I'm sure some people think I'm a complete asshole....while others say "that's the nicest guy you'd ever meet".

I reallize mistakes happen. Shit happens. It's how you handle it that made the bigger impression on me. Giving attitude to a paying customer. Even if that paying customer never even got the pass he payed or.

The whole reason I was pissed was there wasn't enough water to get the tires wet. There was no water in the water box to back up into. I was right there. And for the record.....I said the time before that I wouldn't go back. Travis begged me to take my truck and tools and payed my way in.

It's all good. I like all you guys. I just don't like Dorchester. You can have fun there and I still want to hear about the runs.

I guess they are at least still open and didn't sell off the land to build some houses.

There was plenty of water Travis would never turn them over in the water . He would back in just barely touching it then pull forward . I remember the day quite well because Darryl and myself was standing right there and he even commented " no wonder he can't turn them over he won't get them wet " .

And Jay we like you too . But we can still have disagreements and argue on the internet about stuff .

I'm telling you take your car back there and give it another shot . Stuff actually works out there now and very few problems happen now . The track hooks better than Darlington when the track is warm . Check out this guys launch and tell me the track isn't hooking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO7ZTnVTC_g this even happened late that night !
