Default Newbie from Ohio

Hi all

The wife and I are considering making a move out of Ohio down to the Carolina's so I figured i'd check the local boards to get some insight as to living conditions, jobs, etc........ basic info and what not.

We currently have an 86 Mustang 306 with a 67mm turbo that runs 10.50's@130mph up here but the car may get sacrificed to make the move South.

We're looking for much better weather and careers than Ohio has to offer at this moment. My wife is an LPN and i'm an IT tech/Network Admin

So.....how is the job market down your way? Weather? We get roughly 4 months of good weather here (racing type/swimming/outdoors)

Your car may run faster down here

Welcome to the board. I know in Charleston, sc area there is tons of medical companies, hospitals, clinic etc etc. So your wife may not have a problem. As far as the IT stuff, supposedly Google was or has moved here already. But other than that I have no clue.

If you look around the government contractor world, they are always in need of some IT tech/network admin guys. If you have no problem getting a security clearance, you should try SRC(Scientific Research Corporation), BAE systems, or EMA-INC. Hope that helps and good luck on the move.

actually the car may run slower here.

I would look into Google. google announced a hiring freeze some time ago but their earnings have been rocking. dont think your wife will have a hard time.

it gets a bit too hot for me some times but i'm a yank. the winters, well, i usually wear shorts year round. beaches are nice and the water is warm. lots of lakes and rivers too

unemployment is SC is among the highest in the country. if you have kids, look into the school for the area you plan to live. housing is way more expensive here

also, welcome

weather is great, but very humid and hot during the summer. The biggest benefit of that is that all the Lightnings stay in hiding, so you dont have to watch boringly as they go down the track.

I have no clue on the job market that you would be looking into, but welcome to the site, and sounds like you have some pretty nice cars!

It's cool, I can dig the smack talk

Speaking of Lightnings - best pickup truck i've ever driven! A buddy of mine had an 01 with some minor mods, pulley, ported blower, CAI, etc...

Went 12.50's on factory tires - really cool truck.
