Default Carbon Fiber Cam Covers

Has anyone seen these up close? I know they're not real CF, but if the pattern was close to the DGM pieces it would compliment them pretty well. They're about 3/4 of the way down...

Not necessarily

4.6 heads also known as "Romeo" heads are used on our motors. A lot of builders still use the 5.4 "Windsor" heads.

heads where not designated as 4.6 or 5.4. 2v heads on a mustang are the same as the ones on a truck except for cams. If you want the very best flowing 2v heads find a set of the SVO heads and have Steen Racing work them, you guys will lose a good bit of compression so you can add lots of boost

There are a few other differences between the Romeo & Windsor heads. 1st off the Windsor used 13 bolt valve covers and the Romeos only had 11. Not sure if all but I do know some Romeo heads came with cam girdles instead of caps like the Windsor.

I'm pretty sure all Lightning 5.4(2v) motors came with Windsor heads, and all Mustang GT 4.6(2v) motors came with Romeo heads. That leads me to believe that they were designated 4.6 or 5.4. Although like you point out they are interchangeable.

I am not saying there are not difference, just that on head was not meant for the 4.6 and one for the 5.4. Mustangs had the Romeo engine 96-98 and 02-04, and the windsor between. I could list alot of difference( bolt on vs. press on cam gears for one) but that is not my point, just that heads where not built for the 2 engine sizes. Either head when worked will equal the other the biggest consideration to think of is if you want to buy new cam covers if you go with ones other than what was on your engine.

I think it would be safer to say truck engines 4.6 or 5.4 came with Windsor heads

I have never figured out why they made the lightning a 2v anyway. It is hard to make these heads flow to feed the 4.6 much less it's big brother.

JLP is making 1500 HP with 2v heads. I make close to 600. Both with forced induction. I'm sure 4v would be better, but 2v are nice also. I would of rather seen better rods in the lightning over 4v heads.

Rods would have been nice as well as forged pistons, I could be wrong but aren't the stock pistons still Hyperpathetic, just with a ceramic coating?

99/00 mustang gt's used windsor heads w/ an 8bolt flywheel, the heads are interchangable, and supposedly* the windsors flow a little better
