Default 50% tinted windshield

Has anyone here actually done it? I have 5% on my back glass and rear doors and 15% front doors. I get a heck of a glare off of the platinum colored dash. I do have a 5% banner across the top that I would leave, I am wondering if that would give the illusion that it's not tinted. Getting it done is not an issue, I just don't want it to be something I regret. Removing tint is a PITA.

I could also get a note from my doctor as I get migraines from certain light sources.

Any input?

I have 35% on my windshield with 5% the rest of the way around. There is no doubt that it's tinted!
Never any problems though.

Do you have any issues with it at night or in the rain at night?

The 5% is tough to see out of but the tint on the windshield actually makes it easier for me to see at night- it knocks the glare off all the lights.

I agree... I had to get used to 5% on my last truck. It's not so bad now though. I will have to consider 35%. I have driven a car with 30%, but only in the day time.

uuuhh... lol, you know.

Not really. The glare sucks sometimes and it looks good.

I have 35% all the way around and 50% on the front windshield.
This helped keep the heat way down with my black interior and
helped reduce the glare from street lights, headlights, etc.
Much nicer to have during the day as well It is a worthwhile investment!
The tint is noticeable from certain angles, but I am sure that you wont
have any problems from it. My brothers 02 Dodge 2500 has 20% with 5% layered over
that on his back window, 5% on the side windows, and I think 15% on the doors (ext cab). He also has the strip like you and 50% on the windshield. At times it is very hard to see him and obvious that he has window tint, but has never had a problem with it. This is in Nashville, TN where the truck is and I'm assuming the police are even more lax with the tint laws here. Any one have any input on that?

Here are a few pictures of it on a sunny/cloudy day. Can't see the steering wheel in some angles. Since
these pictures he was going to removed the double layered tint and keep it 20% for towing purposes, but
is in the process of upgrading to a new mega cab 2500

Everyone I know is telling me to go with 35% and leave the strip. I would just hate for it to be too dark. Every picture I find with 50% has black interior and I know that makes a huge difference com paired to my light interior.

I have had 4-5 vehicles with 5% on them and never have a problem - knock on wood.

For reference, the truck above has all tan interior. It is plenty dark!
Seeing that your Yukon can let more light in than this truck, I would say
that you would be fine running 35%, but I believe it will be very dark!
One problem with the Yukon might be seeing the road well at night. I hope you have an
H.I.D kit on it. I only say this because it is hard to see the road with their stock bulbs
on a Yukon with no front tint.

Thanks for the pictures! That is the look I would prefer, if you weren't looking for it, you probably wouldn't notice.

Looks like a nice house too.

Here is 35% on the front and 5% all around. Looks damn good, but dark as hell.

You can't see into my truck at all. Not from any direction. I have black interior and would agree that it does make a difference. You can stand in front of my truck and look straight in and you cannot tell if I am sitting in the drivers seat or not. 5% all the way around combined with 35% on the windshield is dark as hell, but that's how I like it. Donny's truck is 5% all the way around and 20% on the windshield. Even I think that's too dark! That thing is a death trap at night!

I have been in a Dodge ram quad cab with this same tint setup. It
was ridiculous! I thought that 35% on my side windows was a little dark at sometimes,
but 20% on the windshield made it almost impossible to see out of. There is a point when tint gets dangerous and this is it! I for one
wouldn't suggest lower than 50% on the front windshield for safety of pedestrians at night. Thats just me though!

Here's 40% on my windsheild, 20% on the front two windows and 15% on the rest. It's dark from the outside and tough to see somebody in the car, but not bad at all from the inside. It cuts down on the glare both day and night, doesn't bother me at all for night driving.

For referrence here's my car next my ex's, both have the same tint I just have the windsheild tinted. You can see how much darker mine appears.

FYI. Two weeks after I started that thread about windshield tint I got a freakin tint ticket from NCPD. I was down by the VA hospital on rivers ave when I got pulled. I had 5% all the way around with nothing on the windshield. I drive a z71 with a blue stripe police tag on the front and still got pulled over. NCPD has tint tester now so they are trying to get some revenue from them. I got mine dropped and I still have 5% on it but when I'm in NC during the day I ride with the windows down. I wouldn't do your DD since you live in NC. I still want to get the gto done.

I have noticed that people with the blue stripe tag get pulled over ALOT in this area. Not knocking you, but it seems that many think that its a get out of jail card
