Why the LTD fell off!

Well after much retuning of the carb to try and figure out why the LTD 60' fell off, I finally figured it out. She was running on 7 cylinders, apparently I need to retake the valve adjusting class. I had them set way too loose, and the push rod came out from under the rocker and broke the rocker next to it, then tried to jam it back down breaking the push rod in 3 peices, and eventually breaking a lifter. Luckily I found all the metal peices, after removing the intake. I mush have had too many Michelob ultras that night!

Love the sound of the soild lifters, but I'm way too lazy now days to have them. Hope all is well with the heads and motor.

Glad you caught it before things got any worse.

Darryl. How often do you adjust your valves. I hardly ever do the chevelle. I have to adjust them when it brakes most of the time and it brakes enough That I dont have to do it Just go do it.

 Damn!!! Hope you don't have much damage when you take off the head.

I have to adjust them about every 30 passes. I usually go through them 3 or so times when I do them, but not all of them change. I also had cheap Comp Cams street/strip roller rockers, with alot of seat pressure. I upgraded to Crane Cams Gold race rockers, I guess I will see.

Mine is also has a solid lift cam and lifters, which needs to be checked often, I wish mine was hydraulic but the cam has too much lift and is too wild for hydraulic, usually hydraulic you don't have to mess with.

If you'd quit spraying that big shot against those ls1's, you wouldn't be hurting it so often.

Good luck with the 7's. Where do you have to lift to run that?

Just drop 1 or 2 cylinders, seemed to work the last time, but I can do without the breakage..
