I'm a complete newb to slicks, never had any before. I'm thinking about picking up some slicks from another guy, and he says they have plenty of life left but I have no idea how to tell if they do since there's no tread lol. Any help is much appreciated!

The holes are wear indicators. Those look to be in great shape.

Age and climate the tires are kept in is also important.

Age matters. If its a MT you can call with the number on by the bead and they can tell you when it was made.

They're one year old. I'm assuming that's ok?

if they've been bagged its a lot better than if they've been just sitting in the garage.

i had my hoosiers for 3-4 years and they always hooked like a mofo. always garage kept tho. if they have been stored outside, they may be dried out looking. i would say thats more important than overall age.

i'm convinced my NT05's are heat cycled already and they are only at half tread depth.

If the price is right, I would get them. I usually buy my slicks new from CPR in Columbia. Charlie keeps them in a climate controlled environment on a rack. I dont worry about age since we only get 9-12 months of service anyways. Car gets alot of passes between 3 drivers.

Got them for $200 with wheels mounted and everything. Plus shipping but still a killer deal.

Those probably have 30-40 passes on them if I had to guess. I make around 20 passes on mine and take them off and the wear indicator looks a little better than that.

they look fine for what youre doing with them, slicks last a lot longer than radials, the wear mark is all that matters
