Default Looks Like I bought a car

My wife asked for this car to be her 30th birthday present, so that means I'm the proud new owner of a 1971 Nova.

$2500. I'm sure I got raped, but when mama says she wants it we usually end up bringing it home.

Anyone on here run a body shop that is moderately inexpensive?

I will look you up for sure. Deana and I need to sit down and decide how in-depth we want to go with this car.

Don't know that yet, it depends on how much work I put into it.

First thing I'm going to look into is new disc brakes. This car has 4 wheel drums which has to suck.

I hear this a lot on forums, unsure how true it is.

But if you slide the painter/prep'er at Macco some money, they willl do a much better job.
And will even use their better paints (not tell the boss ect).

Same from hearing from forums, is the only issue is they dont prep properly. So people slide the guy
doing it and he will take his time ect.....

Awesome,Mike. My wife Christy works with yours. She told me you all bought the Nova.Congrats.Nova's to me are the best car Chevy ever built,68-72 that is.I,my father and brother owned all those years except the 68 model. If you need any help let me know I still have some parts and my brother still has his 69 Nova. The drum brakes aren't to bad.We installed 73 Nova brakes on the front of my brother's.My 70 had drums all the way around and it ran a 6.16 @ 110 mph and stopped with no problems. But the aftermarket is flooded with up grades for Nova's now. What do you want to do with it?Is it still a 307 car?Is it a T350 auto also?

Yeah Cliff I'm sure I'll be calling on your expertise sometime down the road. It still has the factory 307. A previous owner has put a turbo 350 in it, but I am getting the original 3 speed that came with it. We're not 100% how in-depth we want to go with it, but it'll be a cruiser for sure. Maybe we can have you guys over for BBQ in the next couple of weeks and you can take a look at it, and give me some tips and ideas.

yeah, i stopped over there & talked to Deana today, told her she needed to take it Bowman, and just make fun runs.

there is a guy on the Nova forum (link above) who has parts & stuff,
Phillip, i got a lot of parts from him, and just gave him my old parts in return.

FWIW, the stock non-power brakes have a different pedal pivot point than the power brakes. the manual/non power brakes will NOT stop with a power pedal...ask me how i know....
