Update
So long story short, Borg Warner said they wouldn't warranty the turbo chris @ IRT still made good on it though and replaced the entire center section and cleaned up the housings they had minor surface scratches as the thing didnt run too long. I paid for shipping both ways and half the center section he supplied the new turbine, compressor, and re-assembled turbo will finally be back here Tuesday or Wednesday. I replaced the supply line to the turbo, and it seems to be flowing better than before not sure though. It was hard to blow through the old line so I replaced it, as recommended by chris at IRT as it may have not had enough oil flow to cool the turbo. Any one have any idea on a flow rate I should have. Its not a oil pressure issue car has 45+ at idle and well over 70 when its wound up. I just flipped the 6 speed on LS1tech for 2K so that helped pay for the center section and I went ahead and picked up a water methanol kit from cooling mist. Its supposed to be here monday. IAT's were 130s and would drop to 110 at the track two weeks ago on 6.5 psi, gate pressure, cant wait to get back out add some timing a turn this thing up seems like forever since the car has been at it. Its starting to spend more time a jack stands than off and thats starting to bother me. Anybody have any inputs on what water to meth ratio works best. I was thinking 80 meth/ 20 water or just straight meth. Also wrapped the new section of hotpipe, and wrapped the crossover pipe again. It was originally wrapped but the car was so low it tore the heat wrap up and I pulled it because it was dangling, After installing the coilovers the car sits about 3 inches higher up front and ground clearance wont be an issue. Ordered a blanket for the turbine to but this wont go on right away until I fell the turbo is broke in.

Did you have an in-line filter?

No inline filter but the discharge is downstream of the engine oil filter.

I would call Borg warner to see what psi they recommend. Seen a lot of turbos go bad because of improper oil pressure.

Think Ill do that just to make sure. Think I should be good with what I got motor is fresh and oil pressure is great but you never know. I looking more for a volume per unit time type answer to ensure there is enough flow to sufficiently cool the turbo off.

My motor has around 45-50 at idle and Ive never had a issue. Im sure the turbo's you and I have use the same center section. I think that much oil psi and a -4 feed is more then enough for a journal bearing turbo. As for the meth I found the best results useing pure M1.

i would at least mix it 80/20 or 50/50
auto ignition temperature for all gasoline is 660F auto ignition temperature for meth/eth 858 F you are useing the meth as a cooling factor.. so bringing your burn threshold closer to that of the fuel threashold make more sence... if u have a faulty pump or loss of meth or any number of issues the last thing you want to do is be tuned for a higher threshold. plus adding water will help with the atomization.. (make sure u have a good nozel) the aem kits have the worst meth nnozzel known to man. devils own is probly the best on the market. if you wanted the fuel weithout race gas your next choice would be e85.

If its tuned right if the system fails, then IATs will come up and timing will be pulled back out of it, I don't plan on using it primarily as a fuel source, just plan to take advantage of its octane boosting property's my IATs arnt terrible when moving or under boost IATs only go up when sitting/ staging due to heat soak and the turbo being shoe horned into the cars engine bay. System is a coolingmist with M10 nozzle. Bottom line is I wont be tunning it JP will due that, and I am sure he will make it safe enough, Still learning about all the properties of meth injection. So I am open to opinions of what works.

as long as the car is not ur daily e85 is great. we keep a plasitc 55gallon drum of it in the garage.. grab a 5/10 gallon container when ur in thatn eck of the woods. my point was why run straight m1 meth when you can run a mix that will do the same thing.. and in the end the threshold of the fuel will still be above that of your primary fuel... the cooling property will still be their... and the water atomizes well.... ohh water dosnt have a burn threshold....

Got home from work and this was on my doorstep. Took a really long time to get it back but midwest turbo stuck to their word and it is in good shape. Cant wait to get out and turn it up.
[IMG] [/IMG]Went ahead and put the T/A back together and took it for a ride to the gas station. Also installed the meth kit today. [IMG] [/IMG]She is running good car is a little on the rich side idling 10.5:1 it leans out towards 11.5 cruising, I found a bad intake gasket when I pulled the intake to replace the oil pressure sending unit so it had a bad vacuum leak car had been tuned with it because I didn't know it was there. Hoping to get the tune sorted out this weekend. .Replaced the oil feed line before the turbo went up and tested it by firing the car with the line in a bottle and the turbo not installed. It filled a 20 oz coke bottle half way in about 5 seconds of run time before I shut it down. Turbo seems to be happy no weird noises this time around, so life is good.

I will probably swing by, don't want to play with the tune being off though.

JP just got done with the street tune up to about 10 psi. We had the cut out open let me tell you meth stings the eyes. IATs where 95F though with it hot as hell out side. Did some 2 step testing on the foot brake builds about 5 PSI, haven't touched the trans brake yet but I wont be using it until we get some good passes and start adjusting the suspension. Haven't been able to get any due to breakage but today was a good day. Car came home in better shape than it left in.
Cant wait to get it out to the track now.

he does pretty good work with these LS motors with turbos. Now your car can get into the 6's!
