Default LS motor oil

What do you all run in your newer LS motors? I just looked up the oil capacity for the LS3 in my car and its damn near 9qts and still a freaking wet sump... I believe they suggest mobil1 but is there anything else people prefer?

Royal purple is my first choice, but if you are on a budget Mobil 1 would be my next choice. That's what I run in all my LS equipped vehicles.

I also asked this question and it wasn't worth the trouble or expense to vary from the OTC Mobil 1 5w-30. I tried RP XPR and at 15$ a quart it wasn't worth it, i could rebuild a new engine every 10,000 miles for the price of those oil changes... watch for autozone to have their 5qts and filter for 30 bucks.

MObile 1 5w30.....yeah it sucks changing oil in my G8, cost damn near as much as my duramax. 8.8qts gets expensive real quick!

Walmart almost always has killer prices on Mobil 1.

I run Mobil1 0w-40 German Blend. It has 3x as much zinc as 5w-30. I don't have an oil cooler so I need it to retain oil pressure at high temps.

I also run an improved racing oil baffle and over fill by 1quart.

yup. 8.8 quarts of royal purple then a K&N filter makes a g8 oil change close to 110 bucks

Yep it has DOD lifters, G8 with L76 takes 9 and LS3 in my CTS-V takes 7, kinda of backwards if you ask me.
