I had the same bikes when I was in high school in Asheville. Use to race them in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, but the 200x was a 4 stroke..

Ha, Me too 87-90. Raced at Black Ankle and Montrose in N.C.. Both of mine were 1985 models. The 200X was setup for flat track and the 250R was for motocross but I wanted to convert it to flat track as well.............. There was just something about pitching them sideways at 70+mph with your ass on the footpeg. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what good memories!!!

For fun we used to street race ATV's on the weekends that the tracks weren't open..... I used to love bustin' the Quadracer 500's and Banshee's; damn thing would run 100+mph. Damn that was stupid on the open hwy now that I look back at it

The 500 was a straight up Grizzly Bear!!! I wanted to do a CR500 engine swap in my ATC250R after seeing all the guys that were blasting the dunes in california do it.

My 250R was stolen right before I went to basic training in 1991.

i had dirtbikes when i was growing up and had at different times a kx100, kx250, cr250, crf250 and dad had a cr500 and it scared me to death, i rode it a few times and it was a beast. I got rid of the last one when i got my brute force 750 and its a good time too, just a different kind of fun.

my deceased neighbor had a '97 cr500. my other neighbor was the widow's father, and he called me over there to see if i would be interested in a dirt bike. i walked in the garage, saw it, and was like wtf am i gonna do with that thing? lol he said a young lady came out to look at it before me, and even though she had some experience as a rider, he told her politely she would kill herself. looking back on it, i probably should have bought it, because im sure it was a smoking price but i just didnt know anything about dirtbikes, and i sure as the world would have broken myself on it. but i now have a 1989 cr250.

i may sell it eventually. i would really like to have a '86ish honda fourtrax 125 or 250. my cousin and i spent alot of time riding a '86 125 when we were kids, and i would just like to have one of those simple little 4wheelers. you can pop it in first and cruise at 5mph. real good for around the house use or towing a racecar. my 400ex had to be going ~10+mph before you let the clutch all the way out. lol

The very first dirtbike my stepdad ever bought me and my brothers was a used YZ400. We were 14, 13, & 11 and had NO bidness being on something that powerful at that age.

So my stepdad proceeds to take us out into the field in front of the house to teach us how to ride it and within 2 minutes he crashes and breaks his femur

Needless to say, we kept that bike for about a year and none of us kids ever crashed it. But it was 3 & 4 wheels from that point forward once we got rid of the YZ.

I still think I have a couple of trophies somewhere from Winning or second place in Roan Mountain. The 3 wheelers were a blast. Went from that to a Banshee, a Polaris 500 scrambler, Polaris 250 Trailblazer, and a Yamaha 660 Raptor (nothing but a wheelie machine). After being slammed several times by 4 wheelers I learned I wasn't getting up off the ground like I use to when I was younger, and got off them. Got a Yamaha 450 Rhino, and now a Kawasaki 750 Teryx. The Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki place in Orangeburg has a mint 250R 3 wheeler hanging from the cieling, as a show piece..
