One of the biggest things is building the entire turbo intake setup. I'm ordering a S&B cold air intake kit for an LBZ and will only be using the enclosed air filter housing out of the kit. They will be then making a 5" intake tube from the S&B box over to the turbo inlet out of mandrel bent pipe. The S&B stock piping can not be used due to the 5.5" turbo inlet. They are also building/mandrel bending a 4" down pipe for it as the exhaust housing is 4" and getting rid of the 3" down pipe I already have installed. I also wanted the y bridge replaced so I don't run the chance of blowing the gasket out of my stock one so they will be fabricating a new y bridge also to match the 7" tall turbo pedestal. The turbo pedestal will have a provision added to it for a waste gate for when I build the motor or twin over this turbo later. They are swapping the standard 1.1 exhaust housing over to a .9 to help spool up and drive ability since it will still be my DD. As far as the transmission they actually measure and verify the after market parts and have extras of different sizes on hand to swap them around for different tolerances or will machine down anything that does not fit correctly. A lot of Allison rebuild/build kits come with generic parts and most people just shove them in the trans and hope they work because they "came in a kit" but do not take the time to verify tolerances of the replacement internals. They will also be tuning the ecm and tcm to match the new characteristics of the trans and turbo. There are other things, but those are the biggest. |

I really was looking for a one stop shop kinda deal as I do not have the time to take the truck here for a week and then there for a week and then over there for a week and chase parts in between and then re tune it for what everyone did and hope it comes out OK. I had to make a decision of what was best for me. Last edited by brokesmoke; 08-15-2014 at 11:38 PM. |

Tops should be somewhere between 650-700 on the stock motor and I'm hoping for 1300 ft/lbs of torque. I guess we'll see.

It's going to be late next month. They said it will take them about a week to build and tune everything.

Not extensively, no. One of the biggest reasons why is time for me and also finding someone local that has experience building them- which is basically non-existant. I'm sure it will be the next thing on my list is to start gathering parts and materials for the engine build.

From what I've seen it's around 15K to build it how I'd want.

What I have seen and gathered Diesel Addiction is a bolt kind of company.Meaning, they use other companies products, not fabbing their own(Suncoast transmissions,MPI turbo systems and etc.....).So more than likely they will swap your trans for a crate Suncoast built trans and MPI,SoCal or others turbo products and mounts. All this can be done locally.CPS,Diesel Performance and Rhino lining off Long Point Rd.,LionHeart Diesel of Rivers Ave and there's some others who can do bolt on.If you are trying for 650-700 RWHP you better start buying some internal parts now.Rods are going to bend. Also, don't take the word of any shop when they say one week.It always bites them in the ass

I've talked to them extensively and told them exactly what I wanted done and with what components, etc. They are using a suncoast gmax 5pac kit for the trans. I looked into buying a trans from Calvins in Louisiana and having it shipped here but it worries me if something goes wrong internally his shop isn't local to take it to for service and repair- and his price was about 1K more (mostly shipping trans here and core back) I've talked to performance diesel in Mt. Pleasant and he said he doesn't build Allison transmissions but offered me a crate ATS transmission which I don't want. I've never heard of Lion Heart- ill have to look into that.
