Natural gas is dirt cheap now compared to oil. It burns a hell of a lot cleaner, too. With all the offshore drilling bans on the horizon due to the spill in the Gulf, natural gas should creep on up in price as a clean alternative.

A lot of electric utility generators are making/have made modifications to their generating stations to burn natural gas instead of coal. They still retain the option and the equipment to burn coal, though. This way, they can burn whatever is cheaper between the two at the time.

The US is sitting on major stockpiles of natural gas right now, and running out of places to store it. That is why it is so cheap now. Make it cheap enough, which it already is, and it will get used. The more that gets used, the more the price goes up.

Now is the time to get your foot in the door with anything related to natural gas while it is bottomed out.
