Default Strange Or moser?

Well since i broke the rear in my truck now i believe its a good time to step it up a notch. I dont want anything im gonna have to change later so im gonna build a 9 inch in case i step my game up. I already have a housing for a s-10 and i have the brakes covered, but i need to decide if im gonna go moser or strange.

I can get the strange 33 spline axles, axle bearings, stud kit, retaining plates and spool for 594 shipped.

I can get the same thing but moser for 540.

anyone have any preference?

You will get all kinds of different opinions but I can tell you that there isn't a racecar shop i have ever stepped foot in that uses Moser. Strange or Mark Williams but not Moser.

Moser, you work hard for your money. I'd go with the least expensive unless there is a warranty difference. And make sure you get 3" long studs.

I do know it seems easy to find centers on the used market with the 31 splines. just a thought.

yeah i can get these 33 splines with the spool and all and i have a housing. so i think im gonna go that route. im gonna check with a company we go threw at work and see what i can do.

Dont take any offense to me going the 9" route hal. i mean when i called you yesterday about the 8.8 i was trying to see what i wanted to do. Now that i am thinking about doing this i wanna do it once n do it right. if i ever build a bigger motor and pile the gas on it then i want to be able to grab it from home and only break traction. no more c-clip axles for me they cost me too much damn money.

prolly should have done an axle upgrade before gas to prevent it from happening but shit happens. moser would work fine unless you wanted to spend the extra money. i have moser c-clip axles in mine and have sprayed the shit out of it from home and still havent installed the rear end girdle. the only problem with the 9 is the extra weight

yeah i mean hinedsight is 20/20 i thought it would be able to take it for a lil while. I know the 8.8 wouldrob less power, be lighter and wouldnt cost me as much to put in and all that but at the same time i would rather just get the 9 inch done and not worry with it. build it once and build it for something more then i need and i figure ill find the next weak link. then make that one better

If your on a budget I would go with 31 spline axles. You can get nascar center section of ebay for around $600. They come with 31 spline detroit lockers, billet pinion support, and strange N case.

Tyler,

The 9" will be a good choice to build. I've been using moser axles with no problems yet.

He sure is and gives good prices as well. He has done all my rear-end work, no problems yet. Make sure you do c-clip eliminators as well.

Good deal. I hope your up & running pretty soon. Buddy turns around work fairly quick.

Right now our car is now a jack stand queen, were making way for the windsor to go in. The 302 & trans. will be out by tomorrow night.

MW is the best, Strange and Moser are comparable in my opinion. I have a complete Moser Dana 60 (35 spline with spool) under the cuda that hasn't been touched in 6 years. I have a Moser 9" nodular center section going in my other car.
