Default Oh Hai!

Need some assistance with some aluminum welding so I figured I would sign up and share my build. Hopefully someone can assist with some TIG work I need done. Just don't have the skill or the tools to do it my self.

The Volvo:

1981 Volvo 245 DL Stock with the exception of the drop, the wheels, and the stereo ('81 paper speakers weren't cutting it). I daily drive this thing and love it. Gets me where I need to go and has TONS of room for parts, home depot runs, ect.

The Mazda:

1987 Mazda Rx-7 SE with a 2002-2004 5.3l LM7 and a F-Body T56, 76mm On3 Performance turbo, 44mm WG, stitch welded chassis, gutted interior, ect. This is the current project, have been working on and off over the past 2 years to ruin a perfectly good car. Will eventually get suspension under it, a cage, megasquirt, and paint. Plan on drifting, hooning, roll racing, drag, ect. with the car. Shooting for 600whp+, don't see any trouble getting there with the current setup. Car should weigh 2500lbs. so I am sure 400whp would be a handful to drive.

Moved down here from Northern VA 4 years ago and have not been too involved with the car scene in Charleston. I sold my 350whp VW and bought a bike, then sold that to build the Mazda. I try and attend Cars and Coffee in Mr. P when I can, usually with the wagon unless I have the lil guy with me. Look forward to getting the Mazda up and running and attending some local events.

I like 'em both. The Rx-7 should be a beast if you get it finished. You can mig aluminum, but it doesn't look that great.....but does work. I'm guessing the work you need is for the cold side?

I'm in Manassas, Virginia right now working, heading to a shithole in Cecil County, Maryland for a couple weeks after a couple more days here....

No spool gun available for my Eastwood welder, and I would much rather have the aluminum stuff TIG'd. But yes, the cold side is where I need the welding done. Cast 90* elbow on the turbo, BOV flange welded on, bungs for both IAT and water/meth nozzle(s). Would be nice to find a person or shop that can bead roll the ends as well. The piping will be super short and with minimal bends, just need to get the intercooler in the car and mock it up then get it tacked for a test fit, then final welded.

Post up pics when you get it finished, I'd like to see how you are routing it in that car.

I bet that wagon holds like 29 cubic feet of cargo!

Looks good man, I love me an LS swap.
