Thanks. It's actually a Johnson in denial... the previous owner painted it a dark charcoal with some pearl. It's on a 6in manual jack plate with the shaft just a hair below the pad. No lwp on the lower yet, but I do have the top holes plugged on the factory case.

Great looking checkmate Matt. I wish the checkmate I had been working on restoring few yearsago hadn't been such a lost cause or it would have been on the water too now.

Just pick up one of these!

I have love/hate relationship with the boat. There are a lot of things that need to be corrected from the previous owner. I just don't have the time nor money right now. However, I does run well and has a nice stereo so I can't really argue.

Those are nice but I would want a bow-rider like the one I was working on. It was a 1978 Checkmate Trimate III with an Evinrude 200 on it power jack plate and all. All the controls were frozen including the steering, the floor, transom and stringer were all rotted, all the gel coat was cracked, the engine had no compression and at one point caught on fire and took all the wiring with it. I will try to find a picture one I get to a computer I can get to my photobucket from.

What needs to be fixed on yours?

Oh wow! Hell of a project.

- The kid had good intentions when he painted it, but it has runs in it. It also has dry spray all down the side and below the water line. He even painted the rub rail. The boat was originally white and pink.

- The white interior what died terribly with VHT vinyl die so that needs to be corrected. Also needs new carpet as it has red over spray on it.

- He had good intentions when installing a seastar steering system on the boat, but it leaks at the fittings on the helm and doesn't feel very smooth. Notchy at best. Makes it hard to steer through chine walk and run it out.

- I have two sections under the seat that have some rot. Maybe a 1'X1' section of new wood and glass would take care of it.

- Wiring is shotty and the stereo install needs to be cleaned up.

- Trailer is a mess as well.

Honestly, the LTV is the best bang for the buck. It is super clean and runs strong! Then again, I hope you don't buy it so I can have a shot at owning it later in the year.

The STV is over priced IMO.
