Default LS9 Cam in G8

2009 G8 GT 299/315 STOCK

Before 328.8/352.3 SAE
Rotofab CAI
X pipe with GXP Mufflers
Dyno Tune

AFTER: 391.9/385.9 SAE
408/402 uncorrected
Rotofab CAI
LS7 MAF
LS9 Cam
Pacesetter Headers
X pipe with GXP Mufflers
Dyno Tune

For the last few months the dod lifters were getting louder and louder on startup. I already experienced the crappy work the local dealerships do so taking in for warranty wasnt an option for me. The MAIN purpose for this was to delete the DOD, not performance, please keep that in mind. I already had everything except the headers, valve springs and fluids. Its still hard to believe I added almost 100 horsepower at the wheels and still get better mileage than it did stock. I dont know if I'll run it at the track since I have added a big stereo, 65lbs dynamat and a matching 19" spare and jack since the last time I ran it. It ran 12.9 when it had cai and tune before all the added weight.

NICE but how do you figure you added 100HP?
Are you taking the pre-dyno tune, xpipe/mufflers, CAI estimate?

Either way, what is your MPGs?

its not bad for a 150 dollar cam... i'm still curious how an LS7 cam compares to the LS9 cam on the dyno.

Wonder what it'd make with some cathedral ports?

I rounded 391-299=92....almost a hundred added at the wheels from stock.

I used it because it was free, came out of friends zr1. A ls7 cam would have made a little more power.

I think he means after all the mods it made 100 more and get a better mileage. Not just the cam change.

That's what I wanted to put in but I got the ls9 cam free is I went with it. If it made anymore than stock it was good enough for me. I had some dod lifters that we're raising hell was only reason I did everything. I had almost everything already so that was a big bonus.

Yes that's correct. I get 18-22mpg in town and 22-26mpg highway. It really depends on how hard you drive it in town. Most of he speed limits here are 75mph so I usually drive 80-85mph. It gets better mileage at 70-75 than 80-85 which isn't a surprise. My ctsv gets better mileage at 75 than 70, guessing the gearing smacked then difference.

did you replace all the lifters, or just the DOD lifters?

that kit is a few dollars....and it does NOT include a new cam...you would think it would?

DOD / AFM Delete Kit
base price $389.99

with 16 lifters:
Customized Price: $469.99

Yes I replaced all the lifters, be crazy to only replace half when your right there.. I didnt buy any kit, I had almost everything already brand new laying around plus I can get all the parts way cheaper than you posted. I only bought valve springs, head bolts and the headers, I had the rest and got the cam free.

My CTSV gets better mileage than the G8 and has more hp. CTSV gets atleast 20 mpg in town 22-28 mpg depending on speed on highway. Im guessing its because its a smaller car. The G8 even turns less rpm than the ctsv.

CTSV and G8 have same driveshaft somehow but the rear in the CTSV does look smaller. The G8 doesn't look that much bigger until you park them both in the garage and then you can see the size difference. It obviously when you're in them which one is bigger.

Default LS9 Cam in G8

Looks like a 63Hp gain to me. Either way. Nice!

I don't think an LS7 cam would me any more. Probley less because if the different ratio rocker required to get designed numbers.
