I've got some 4.10's in my 94 t/a and I like them alot. In my opinion, if you have a stick, go with the 4.10's, if you have an auto go with the 3.73's. If you end up going with the 3.73's I know a guy that has a set of Richmonds for 100 bucks.

I would go 4.10's. Either gear choice will be better than 2.73's. You usually can find 3.42 gears where people have removed them from other f-body's and/or s-series with the 7.5.

Did they do the billet corvette servos in the transmission?
Does it have green coolant or redish (dexcool). If it has dexcool remove as soon as possible.

Congrats on the daily

Are you planning on racing it?

I've been down this road before. I had 2.73's for a long time in mine. I would go with a converter first. You will pick up more with a converter and still get good mpg with the 2.73's. Despite what some will tell you....2.73's are plenty capable with a good converter. I ran 11's with stock LS1 and 2.73's....getting close to 30mpg on the highway.

My other suggestion if you plan on racing is to find a complete 3.42 rear. A lot of times that's cheaper than a gear swap. When you add up gears, install kit, labor it gets pretty pricey. You will also have that 2.73 rear as a spare. I had to go back to my spare twice.

I've had 2.73's, 3.42's, and 3.73's behind my 4l60e. Big difference from 2.73-3.42. Not much from 3.42-3.73 especially if you plan on getting a converter.

A little more info for you with the swap. Because you have 2.73's you will need gears for a 2 series carrier. So...pull out (stock) 3.42's are out. 4.10's are also out. Here are some prices if you haven't looked it up yet. http://www.speedinc.com/catagory.cfm.../%20Driveshaft

I hope I'm not insulting you or anything. I'm not sure how much you've messed with this stuff. Just giving you my experience with it. If I can help with anything (including wrenching) let me know.

i would consider your future plans for the car, and pick your gear accordingly.

For Example- I would put a different gear in the car depending on whether or not i was going to put any gas on it. If you are going to race it, i would put a different gear in it depending on if i was going to street race it or track race it.

I plan on daily driving it for a while. I want to do a few things to it to go a lil faster. Probably gears and converter.

I think you will be happiest with the 373s, because they wont make you turn stupid revs on the highway. Let me know if you want that richmond set.

i think i am going to go with the 3.73's. I know gears make a hell of a difference because when i went from 3.73 to 4.56's in my tahoe was night and day. and my k-5 has 44's and 5.13's. Any idea what converter to get and what stall?

just call Mr Cameron to get a convertor. you could buy an off the shelf convertor, but he will do a better job for you. there isn't much point in the convertor though until you are making some extra h.p.

I have to disagree. When my car was basicall stock it went from 8.9's to 8.7's with a 2400 and no other vhanges. I then put a 3500 TCI in it and it went 8.4's... I also went from a 2.0 60' to a 1.8 60' on street tires.

Not sure I follow that. You can drop .5 with a converter only (provided you have traction). Except for nitrous, show me another mod for the $$ that will drop that much ET. Not going to get that with gears and not going to make enough hp with bolt ons for that.

Not to mention from a roll. The difference is night and day....especially on an otherwise stock car.

I would say to plan ahead for the converter. Take future mods into account before buying a converter. That's not something you want to swap out a bunch of times......unless you have tons of cash laying around.

This is just my $.02.

i wasn't very clear in what i was trying to say...

my point was- don't waste your money on a convertor now until you know what you are going to do with the car. Sure, it might speed it up in stock form, but if he starts making some more power (which i know he eventually will) he will just have to change it again.

so- if you are going to daily drive it, screw spending money on it. Just wait until you are ready to start making some power and racing it.

I'm just giving him advise from my experience. Slowly upgrading over and over is alot more expensive than doing it all at once. Pick a goal, and then do it all at once when you have the money.
