Default 67' Project update

The winter up here has really sucked!

On the other hand, it keeps people in the garage working on old cars.

A few pics of the project.

My pet pieve about Mustangs are all the damn vinyl the factory uses in them. Even the new edge cars have sucky interiors. One of my goals in this project is to remove all vinyl from the cars interior including that crappy headliner.

Smoothing out interruptions in the body is also one of my goals with this car (shaved door handles, drip rails, locks, welded up the upper and lower vents, seams).

The headliner has long since gone. My dilemma was, how do you remove the need for a vinyl headliner from the build? Ended up buying a 67 fastback roof panel that will be cut down and fitted to the underside of the cars top. This allows the car to have a steel headliner. Spray in foam will be injected between the panels to serve as sound insulation and seal up that area. Have never seen this mod done before so I hope it turns out nice.


The car as it is now. Looks sad but a lot has been done.


Vents (upper and lower) have been welded up. Anybody need a set of upper and lower (authentic) Shelby vents?




The "hats" have also been removed and vent passages under the cowl welded up. Turned out nice! Rain water that enters through the wiper arm holes will vent on either side under the front fender panels.


The TCI Mustang II front end going in. The kit is a direct fit, no guess work here.


The previous owner stitched in this patch panel. Between the welds some kind of glue was used. I had to remove the entire floor pan due to this crappy resto work and both quarter panel patch areas will be no exception.

looks neat.

how do you do the drip rails? isn't that were like 3 peices (roof, headliner edge, inside of door jamb) of metal meet, and are folded to join them, and make a strength member?

won't those rear rims get ruined by all the stuff on them?

This is how it was done. TIG works best.

The wheels will be sold after the car is done at the body shop. I'm sure all that dust isn't good but consider those are the el-cheapo torque thrust II wheels that are everywhere.
The tires will be retained for a future project.

I'm looking for some 20xreally wide wheels for the rear. The 9" will be narrowed five inches on each side and the rear mini-tubbed.
