For me it is because I exercise and I also get hungry pretty often. Peoples initial reaction is to starve themselves to lose weight but that not healthy. By doing that not only do you lose body fat but you also lose muscle. It is much more important to eat more healthy, more frequently and exercise portion control. Think of it like a car. Food is your bodies fuel. Would you rather put shit pump gas in your race car or some race gas? People will invest a lot of time, money and effort in a lot of thing except for their bodies. I was also guilty of doing so at one point in my life and I hope that time is behind me now.

When I make the effort to go running it's at night, so I usually don't eat any breakfast. I see what you mean though, that makes sense.

Ive gone from a size 36-38 down to a size 33 and lost about 50 lbs doing everything Ive said in this thread. I have a good feeling my steps are very similar to Robs and he is also having success as good if not better than I am. I cant speak for him but I havent been this light or skinny since high school which was over 12 years ago. Last edited by chrisheltra; 01-15-2012 at 11:42 PM. |

True but at the same time he's doing what works for him. Not everyone will lose the weight the same way. And not all of us have a super active metabolism like you Van lol

I dont even pay attention to calories when I buy food. I mainly pay attention to the fat content.

Lot of the same stuff I do has already been said in here. Another thing that helps is eating fiber. Fruits, nuts, and veggies.
If you want to know what to eat and not eat Men's Health editor did the "Eat This Not That" series of books. I have quite a few of them. It gives you good examples of what to replace some of your bad eating habits with, what to order at restaurants, and what to cook at home. I learned a lot of my dieting from these. It doesnt just say hey eat this, but it tells you why its good or bad for you. http://eatthis.menshealth.com/home

Calories if unburned can turn to fat. Fat content does lead to fat and clogged arteries. Either way my method works for my body. Results may vary. Last edited by chrisheltra; 01-16-2012 at 08:55 PM. |

Try grabbing a backpack and go transient (just randomly walk or run around some area) a few times a week. Check out CardioTrainer if ya have an Android cellie (maybe iPhone too?) to use as a pedometer (or get a pedometer, of course). I am not a big fan of treadmills, personally. Too easy to "give up" or get distracted and stop on them. When ya take a walk for a mile or seven in one direction... Well ya have to walk back. Or call a cab. Plus this area has quite a bit of areas to just go out and see that make the workout fairly enjoyable.

I've read a good alternative to running is riding bikes. A lot of people, like me, don't like to run. When you ride a bike, you also tend do go further and work out longer.
Any exercise is better than nothing. |

Im down to 230 from 243 in a few weeks. Just trying to watch what I eat and walk when I can. Its hard, I like to eat way to much and bad stuff.. so I am taking fruit / veggies in the car, granola bars as snacks instead of stopping to buy a coke and candy bar. It's working. Want to get down to 215 before my birthday in April (which should be very attainable) and down ultimately to 180-185. I have broad shoulders, thick chest, I will never be a skinny mini Abercrombie model but thats ok with me.

Well, if you're into body building, I normally eat a high protein, Low carb diet. Top it all out with healthy exercise will give you a buffed out body.
